When I began watching Serial Experiments Lain, I immediately felt an inexplicable connection to the settings—the dimly lit cities at night, and Lain’s room as she progressively modified her computer. Despite not having finished the series, there is something profoundly resonant in these scenes. Lain herself is a character in whom I can clearly see reflections of my own experience; I’ve never encountered a character so closely aligned with my own self. The atmosphere of the show mirrors a feeling I struggle to articulate—a blend of mundane existence against the backdrop of a heavy, cluttered cityscape, filled with disorderly apartment buildings and tangled wires. Yet, it's the kind of place that evokes a strange nostalgia, the type that grows stronger with time.

I began constructing the i026NET around April 2022, a process born from my delusions, which unexpectedly guided me to this reality. I plan to elaborate on that in another entry, as it’s a topic that merits deeper exploration. There may be more cities to discover within this world, or perhaps I already have the framework—I just need to expand and clarify it.

i026NET is not a fabrication, even though it doesn’t exist physically. It lives in my mind, and in a sense, the internet can serve as its domain.
